Swell Bells

The bell tower that you can see in the distance is about two blocks from our apartment. When it is 15 minutes after the hour, it gongs once. At half past the hour, it gongs twice, at a quarter till, three times. On the hour, it gongs four times with a softer bell and then GONGS out the correct time--one, two, three, four, etc...all the way to twelve gongs at midnight. It is great if I am lying awake and have insomnia--there is no doubt in my mind what time it is. Brad has taken an immense dislike to the bells. I think they are quaint!

And where is our apartment you ask? Look for the house with roof tiles and dormers--just kidding. We were told prior to moving in that we had a second floor apartment. We were thrilled to have one less floor than our third floor Colorado apartment. We found out that the German's call the first floor the ground floor. (So if you get into an elevator in a store in Germany, you will never get to the main level if you press "one.")
