Germans hang a pickle-shaped glass ornament on the Christmas tree hidden away so it's difficult to find. The first child to find it on Christmas morning gets a special treat or an extra present and, if an adult finds it, it is supposed to bring good luck for a year.
One of our friends, Jeanna Moritz, created a "pickle jar" for us at a gathering over the summer. The jar was intended to be a place to give a love offering or a note of encouragement to the departing Winslow's.
The verse on the jar (with slight change) said: Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then Brad and Janis said, "Here we are, Lord. Send us!"
Once again, a heartfelt thank you to the many friends and family who opened their homes to us this summer and allowed us to present our ministry to their family and friends.
We are deeply touched by your outpouring of love to us, as servants of the Lord Jesus Christ, and grateful for your host and hostessing on our behalf.
May the Lord bless you as you have blessed us, his willing servants.
